Paper Dolls

A Midnight Ballet for Sex Worker Rights

Who we are

Paper Dolls Is a Sex Worker-Led Coalition That Turns Immersive Art Into Collective Action.

We center people with lived experience in the fight for sex worker rights. Our Midnight Ballet is an immersive world of contemporary dance, burlesque and pole, live music and legislative action. A joyful night of collective harmony aimed at one goal: public support to pass police sexual misconduct bills around the country.

Our mission

Why it matters

  1. The situation

Sex Workers Lack Basic Legal Protection.

Police sexual misconduct is the second most reported form of police misconduct, after excessive force. Many states protect people in police custody, but that’s where protection ends.

  2. The complication

    Systemic Stigma Keeps Us Divided.

Criminalization breeds mistrust and distance between organizations and the people they mean to serve. Without unity, progress stays incremental.

  3. Our answer

    Sex Worker-Led Action Creates Harmony.

Paper Dolls gives people with lived experience a safe space to organize, and a new relationship to the lawmakers deciding their safety: turning community into collective action.
